Welcome to my first travel post. Read on to learn about a WW2 underground bunker, a fort, a drink named after the city and how to travel in luxury and not spend a fortune.

Parts one and two cover my personal visits to two of the nation’s major historical military sites. Future entries will dive into our local city and food tours, our experience tasting the iconic Singapore Sling at the famous Raffles Long Bar, and the specific logistics of the trip.

I’m a major proponent of maximizing frequent flyer and hotel loyalty points. Later in this series, I will explain exactly how I leveraged these points to secure premium travel and business class upgrades for a flight lasting over 15 hours.

The complete itinerary for this journey included a week-long stay in Seoul, South Korea. The highlights from Seoul—including an extensive city tour, the traditional changing of the guard ceremony, an incredible food tour, and a visit to the DMZ where I walked deep into the underground invasion tunnels—will be featured in a separate article.

We had the luxury of flying from Inchon International Airport in South Korea directly to Singapore in business class aboard a Singapore Airlines 787 Dreamliner. While I will provide comprehensive logistical breakdowns in a future post, note that both South Korea and Singapore require travelers to submit electronic arrival cards before clearing customs.
