Hi Michael,
I wanted to write and let you know that my father, William, knew your grandfather before he went off to war. Your grandfather was a boarder in my grandparents’ house on Beatrice Street in Toronto. He befriended my dad and gave him a part-time job in the printing shop he worked in.
I found the connection when I was informed about the following website: http://www.openfile.ca/remembrance_day. When showing the map to my father, and clicking on the memorials in his neighbourhood, your grandfather’s name popped up. My dad said, “I knew him!” and then gave me the story.
I hope that helps you in your quest to learn about your grandfather’s story.
