My grandfather was serving in the RCAF and was recruited by the British Security Coordination (BSC) – the organization head by Sir William Stephenson of a Man Called Intrepid fame. The BSC recruited Canadians for both the Special Operation Executive (SOE) and the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) or more commonly known today as MI-6.
The University of Toronto submitted numerous requests to the Canadian government to declassify documents from World War Two and the BSC recruitment of Canadians was largely covered up for many years due to the nature of recruiting members of the Communist Party of Canada (which was banned) and the Cold War where they were our bitter enemies.
Paul, was recruited for MI-6 and here is the memo that discussed him as being “useful material”
